This in-person Myofascial release and Myo-Yin workshop is an opportunity to unwind on a deeper level.
Many of us feel that we are carrying so much, mentally and physically and find rest very difficult to create space for and practice. This stored tension can show up in lots of ways, from physcial tightness and aches that we can’t release, to feeling as though we mentally can’t break the cycle we are in.
This is a 2 hour 15 minute practice that combines Myofasical Release (MFR), Yin yoga and deep relaxation to help you create the conditions where change and release is possible.
In this workshop, you will explore a slow, intentional sequence using MFR, Yin (in this context, ‘Myo-Yin’) and deep relaxation to target key areas of tension. Together, we will discover how it feels to rest in stillness and in gentle movement. Using balls, yoga blocks, body weight and touch, we can invite the connective tissues (fascia) to soften and release.
Our practice together will culminate with Yoga Nidra to relax even deeper. This is a guided, lying down meditation that is extremely gentle and soothing.
Expect to finish with a sweet treat and a grounding cup of tea, before heading home feeling spacious and connected.
This practice is suitable for all. You are simply invited to move with awareness and compassion for your unique body and mind.
This is for you if:
* You are carrying tension, mentally and physically, and feel you can’t shift it;
* Find rest difficult to practice and make space for in your life;
* Would like to slow down, feel held and supported and create the conditions to let go.
* You might not have a regular Yoga or Myofascial Release practice, but are curious to explore ways to relieve tension in your body.
What to expect:
We will meet in the beautiful studio at Notley Yoga, just outside of Chelmsford and 30 mins from Colchester. All props are provided, unless you would like to bring your own.
The session will begin with some time to set intentions, outline and explain the practice. You will then be guided through the practices and encouraged to pause where you would like to. The practice will finish with a guided Yoga Nidra (lying down meditation).
What is MFR?
Myofasical release is an intentional technique that targets the body’s connective tissues, the ‘fascia.’ You might think of the fascia like a web of connective tissue that covers everything inside the body. It connects muscles, bones, nerves and organs. When our fascia is healthy, it’s smooth and responsive. But when we experience stress, injury, heightened emotions, our fascia can become stiff and dense.
Myofasical release, or MFR, works to release the tension and by applying targeted, slow and sustained pressure to specific areas. Using props such as yoga blocks, balls, body weight and touch, we can invite the fascia to soften and release.
